Vrushika Mehta, known for her role in Dil Dosti Dance (D3), relocated to Canada after getting married but made a special trip to Mumbai for Navratri celebrations. As a proud Gujarati, she expresses her deep-rooted love for Navratri and garba, stating that no festivity is complete without them. The upbeat music energizes her, always ready to break into garba with joy. While she enjoys the tradition in Mumbai, she hopes to experience the authentic Navratri essence in Gujarat someday. Reflecting on her childhood, Vrushika recalls her enthusiasm for garba competitions, where her mom would bribe her with chocolates to stay still while painting dots on her chin. Her competitive spirit drove her to aim for a prize every night, cherishing those moments of dancing like a little star. When it comes to her Navratri attire, she prefers lightweight chaniya cholis for comfort and graceful spins, opting for delicate jewelry to complement her outfit when dancing and going for statement pieces for reels."I aspired to win every garba competition during my childhood." Recalling her childhood memories of the festival, she reminisces, "My mom used to dress me up, and to keep me still while she painted three dots on my chin, she would bribe me with chocolates (laughs). I was very competitive and set on winning a prize every night. It was all about dancing enthusiastically and feeling like a little star."
Discussing her preferred Navratri attire, she explains, "I adore flared chaniya cholis, but I opt for lightweight ones for comfort and graceful spins. Regarding jewelry, if I'm filming a reel, I choose something bold to make a statement. But if I'm dancing, I keep it delicate, selecting pieces that match my outfit."
"Looking forward to the day when Saurabh and I can celebrate Navratri together." Saurabh (her husband) enjoys garba, and his style differs from hers, a style she'd love to learn. Regrettably, they haven't had the opportunity to celebrate Navratri together yet. They did get to play garba during her wedding festivities, which was enjoyable. She eagerly anticipates the day they can celebrate Navratri together.
Vrushika remarks, "Spinning is definitely my favorite, along with the playful popatiyu. I also enjoy incorporating dodhiyu and trikoniya moves to add variety." And her favorite garba song? The actress replies, "Dakla is one of my all-time favorites; it exudes infectious energy. I'm also a huge fan of Falguni Pathak; her songs are iconic and always set the perfect mood for Navratri."
Recalling her favorite on-set Navratri memory, Vrushika shares, "During the shoots of Dil Dosti Dance, we had to film Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje; it took half a day, and it was a blast! Our D3 reunion parties always include garba."
